Links - Software (and hardware)

Axon Axon's Idea Processor provides an environment for manipulating ideas in the forms of shapes. You need to like to plunge into a piece of software and get your hands dirty, but the features are powerful. Reviewed.
COCD Dutch creativity site (Centrum ter Ontwikkeling van het Creatif Denken) with very slick presentation (English language). Free 'Box' idea manager.
Banxia Software  Banxia's Decision Explorer allows you to structure ideas by mapping them and linking them with arrows. The thoughts can then be clustered together and analysed. There's less direct structuring than with a mindmap, and you have to be happy with a command line interface to get the most out of it. Worth pursuing if cognitive mapping interests you.
CuL Creativity Unleashed Limited Our own software page. Reviews of other software, plus free and shareware creativity software.
CoCo Systems CoCo Systems VisiMap is the easiest way we've seen of generating quick mind maps on a computer. Good interaction with word processors etc. Reviewed.
Concept Mapping The concept mapping home page Exhaustive details of software etc. for mind mapping and similar ideas.
The Crafty Puzzle Company This one's hardware rather than software! Handmade Teak Wood Collapsible Puzzles, which will test your IQ and lateral thinking.
Idon Software Idons are a clever method of arranging ideas in a brainstorm. Idon has rather poorly implemented this as software, but their magnetic hexagons are excellent. Reviewed.
iMindMap Mindmapping software that most directly matches Tony Buzan's original concept.
Infinite Innovations Infinite Innovations The Brainstorming Toolbox software provides an innovative approach to thinking differently with computer support.
Inspiration Resources The Visual Concept product clever idea recording and structuring package, similar in concept to the Idons product but much easier to use. Inspiration Resources also produce magnetic hexagons, etc. Reviewed.
Creative Juicies A site with a 'delicious desktop application' that will provide instant inspiration and spontaneous creative rejuvenation. This application isn't expensive, but is beautifully designed and uses a combination of thought-provoking images and exercises to get the creative juices flowing.
The Literary Machine Text-based software that provides a front end to enable brainstorming and idea generation with a back end that acts as a creative word processor. available in a free cut-down version and a professional edition.
MindManager A good tool for generating attractive mind maps. Not so quick to use as CoCo's VisiMap, but produces more graphical (and hence more memorable) results. Reviewed.
MindTools MindTools Software and information on techniques and skills to improve your mind power
sixhats.gif (4234 bytes) Six Hats Systems Specialising in software, training and courseware for Edward de Bono's output, this is a slick professional site: worth a look.
Speedread the Net This is the strangest piece of software we've ever seen. It's designed to help improve your reading speed, and does it by processing web sites or files from your PC, flashing them up a word at a time. If you'd like to increase your reading rate, it's well worth a try.
ThoughtPath Powerful sounding software, based on the long-established Synectics processes. As well as the usual techniques, includes an idea gym and a thought warehouse.
Xerotron Don't be put off by the rather flaky sounding ancient Egyptian 'story' attached to this website - the software itself which includes a three random word generator sounds promising (not yet reviewed)
